Job description

This is a unique opportunity to play an important role working on existing diagnostic instruments, modifying code, making improvements and trying new approaches. This is fun, front end development, moving mature instruments/devices programmed in LabVIEW to C++. You'll work on new challengeseach month, and in the process you will expand your skills and experience across multiple technologies, as well as interact with professionals in various areas of Canon U.S.A.

The ideal candidate for the Software Development Engineer opportunity will have 5+ years of development experience working in a life sciences or similar environment, preferably creating software that drives diagnostic instruments.

To meet the basic qualifications for this role you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit you also should have:

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other relevant focus.
• Experience programming in C++.
• Hands-on experience developing in Linux.
• A demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly, and to translate that knowledge into high-quality code.
• The ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal end users, engineers and key project stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities; flexibility.
• General knowledge of biology & physics in order to understand conversations with colleagues.
• The ability to work effectively with and take direction from multiple people, and work on 2 to 3 project streams at a time without becoming flustered.
