Job description
The Underwater Team (UWT) has a requirement to provide practical and theoretical electronics engineering to support key customer deliverables. This job will involve a variety of duties including circuit evaluation / analysis / modelling, the production of schematics, designing, building and testing of electronic sub-systems and supporting system evaluation activities. There are opportunities for travel as the work involves collaboration with international partners and field trials both in the UK and abroad.
You will be part of a highly skilled, internationally recognised team. The focus of the work is engineering in the underwater domain.
The teams work is diverse and while fundamentally it is electronics based there are also physics based activities. The team also undertake activities using Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVS) and Royal Navy divers.

You will be accountable for the following:-
• Provide full technical evaluation and analysis of electronic systems to support operational advice on system performance and inform customer of requirement for in service updates and procurement options
• Assist with modelling of electronic systems which are used to provide operational advice and enable robust decision making
• Presentation of results of analysis to colleagues, customers and International partners
• Provide initial, high priority base line assessments to enable informed decisions to be made

Desired Skills and Experience
TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (BEng\BSc) 2:2 or above
Practical experience of Electronics Engineering and experimentation
Evidence of contributing to (preferably leading/planning) delivery of work activities .

DESIRABLE A Master's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (MEng) Experience working in a Defence organisation
Good presentation skills
Evidence of planning and / or supporting trials
Awareness of safe working practices and environmental issues
Knowledge and experience of underwater weapon systems Practical, hands-on experience with electronics / electrical systems Use of pedestrian fork lift trucks and slinging / cranes Experience of maritime activities such as small boat handling and open or closed circuit diving Engineering computer programming skills (Such as Matlab, Labview, OrCad, PSCPICE, C, C++, etc).
TECHNICAL AND PROFESIONAL EXEPERIENCE
An ability to interface with Military users, awareness of practical issues while undertaking electronic equipment testing and ability to deal with arising challenges while performing outdoor trials is desirable.
Qualifications ESSENTIAL:
Degree: Electronics Engineering or similar technology based - Minimum of BEng 2:2 A Levels: Technology based subject and / or Maths GCSE: Maths, , Applied ICT, English Language,,
DESIRABLE: HND: Electronics or technology based subject A Levels: ICT, Physics or technology based subject GCSE: Foreign Language, Physics, Business Studies
