Description Diabetes Care, a business unit of the BD Medical Segment, is currently strengthening our core capabilities in diabetes drug delivery devices. The Diabetes Care business unit has a long history within BD and is unique in that it focuses on one important disease state which is a threat to world health. The business unit is comprised of approximately 2,300 associates globally and the R&D team consists of approximately forty individuals. This open position is part of a dynamic organization that is building capability while focusing on important business goals.

We are looking for an exceptional Engineer to join our R&D team. as part of this team, you will play a key role in the development and validation of measurement systems for product development projects in BD Medical-Diabetes Care. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated laboratory experimentation skills including machine control and automated data acquisition and analysis. The design and production of fixturing to assist in these experiments is also required. Experience using techniques such as machining, rapid prototyping, and 3-D printing is highly desired. This person will need to work independently, be a key problem solver and interact with internal and external groups to procure required materials and services. This is an opportunity for a truly motivated individual to participate in the development of several new products related to the treatment of people with diabetes. The ideal candidate will have a logical approach to the solution of problems and to the product development process with the capacity for original thinking.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with others to design and develop test methods
• Design and acquire fixturing for test methods
• Write test methods and procedures according to BD SOPs
• Participate in test method validation
• Execute test methods and analyze data as needed
• Write and implement verification protocols and activities

Qualifications Skills and Qualifications:
• BS in mechanical engineering, MS preferred
• Minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience as a mechanical engineer in medical device industry
• Experience in Diabetes Care Infusion Systems and/or medical devices disposables
• Proficient in Pro/E and/or SolidWorks and GD&T
• Advanced knowledge of engineering first principles
• Experience developing test methods

• Strong self-management, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills to work within tight deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well as a good background in product development process
• Direct experience with LabView, MatLab, and Minitab is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to effectively and clearly communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals and teams
• Experience with ISO requirements and GMP guidelines, FDA regulations, medical device design control, and manufacturing scale-up processes is a plus
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Clear/Concise documentation and correspondence during project execution
