Job description
Coherent’s
High Power Optically-Pumped Semiconductor (HOPS) business unit has an opening
for a Manufacturing Engineer experienced with optical systems, lasers, and
fast-paced working environments. We build single and multi-mode lasers for a
variety of medical, scientific and entertainment applications using Coherent’s
patented Optically Pumped Semiconductor (OPS) platform. OPS is an extremely
versatile technology capable of a broad range of laser wavelengths in a cost
effective and compact package.
This candidate will perform engineering
functions associated with all laser production procedures. We seek an
engineering expert eager to identify opportunities for improvement and
passionate about implementing solutions.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop,
implement, and maintain methods, operation sequence, and processes in the
manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub assemblies, and final
assemblies.
2. Interface with design engineering in coordinating the release
of new products.
3. Estimate manufacturing cost, determine time standards,
and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing
product lines.
4. Maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of
manufacturing operations.
5. Establish and maintain statistical process
control procedures.
6. Achieve and maintain a working knowledge of Optically
Pumped Semiconductor Lasers to respond to and resolve routine production
issues.
7. Provide training and certification for production Leads,
Technicians and Assemblers.
8. Qualification of new components and
vendors.
9. Hands on experience in laser processing, manufacturing, as well
as performance and reliability testing.
10. Experience with tasks such as
ECRs, ECOs, MCOs, Product Variations, and Process Deviations.
